Task 1
a) Decide on a topic for the speech competition.
b) Hand it in here.
c) Briefly present your topic in class. Explain why this topic is important to you. Make sure to create a valid argument.
Task 2
a) Create a vocabulary list with three important English words on your topic, the German translations and English example sentences.
b) Copy and paste this list into the bullsheet.
In the vocabulary list you created together as a class, you’ll find the most important words from your classmates’ topics. This will help you better understand their speeches later on.
c) Practise the phrases. (This tool only works in Chrome).
Task 3
a) Prepare to be interviewed on your speech topic. Download the file (document export page) and save it.
b) Find your partner with a speech topic that interests you here.
c) Choose one of the following options:
- Conduct it as a podcast for the school's social media page OR
- Conduct it as a video for the school's social media page.
d) Conduct and record the interview.
e) Upload it here.
- You may use your digital device (such as a phone or iPad) for recording the audio file or video. You don't have to hand in a polished version in high quality, but make sure that there is not too much background noise and that it is easy to understand what you are saying.
- If you don't know how to create a valid argument, go to section 2.1.
- If you don't know the argument types Factual Argument, Argument by Analogy, Normative Argument, Argument by Authority, and Counterargument, go to section 2.2.
- If you don't know how to comment on a topic, go to section 2.3.
- Look up words on dict.cc.
- Check your spelling and grammar using a spell checker.
