Step-by-step support for implementing rhyme

Step 1: Content first

  • Write 4-6 lines about a topic that matters to you.
  • Don't worry about rhymes yet.
  • Say what you want to express!
  • Example:
    I feel like something's changing
    Everything's moving so fast
    I can't hold on
    But I want to

Step 2: Breaks

  • Break your lines into smaller parts and create a rhythm.
  • Think about thematically sound breaks.
  • Shorten or rearrange if needed.
  • Example:
    I feel like something's changing / everything's too fast
I can't hold on / to the moments that last

Step 3: Rhyme scheme

  • Choose one of the rhyme schemes below.
  • Rewrite your lines so that the endings rhyme.
  • Use synonyms, change the word order or look up rhyming words.
  • Example:
    I feel like something's changing (A)
    The world is rearranging (A)
    I can't hold on, I try (B)
But moments pass me by (B)
