Task: Making a Development Plan for Niger

The Republic of the Niger is the largest landlocked country in West Africa and the second largest landlocked nation in Africa behind Chad.

Over 80% of its land area lies in the Sahara. It has one of the lowest HDI scores worldwide.

1. In small groups find out about the natural, economic, social, and political conditions in Niger.

2. Research how the country performs on the various development indicators (GDP, HDI, Happy Planet Index, Big Mac Index, Gender Inequality Index). 

3. Evaluate Niger's development status based on modernization and dependency theory. Discuss how these theories explain Niger's current situation. 

4. Design a country report with basic information about Niger and a development concept with 5 measures that can contain elements from all strategies. 

It is up to you to decide what form the country report should take: a film, a podcast, an interview, an e-book or a wiki?
