    • Ausschreibung: Projekt „Many Voices, Equal Choices: Fighting Global Disparities!“

      Dear Global Studies students,

As part of Sustainability Week at our school, we are launching an exciting project called "Many Voices, Equal Choices: Fighting Global Disparities".

      The aim of the project:

We want to encourage our classmates to think about the products we buy from the so-called Global South, such as the roses for Valentine's Day from Kenya, the coffee in the school canteen from Colombia and the T-shirts with our school logo from Bangladesh. The production of these products is often associated with significant environmental and social problems that affect both the environment and local communities. Our aim is to educate the student body about the level of development in the country and to convince them of the need to switch to Fair Trade products in order to improve the living conditions of the workers and to promote sustainable development.

      Content of the project:

To achieve this goal, we will carry out various activities that will show the students how these countries are set up, the historical reasons for their precarious situation, what efforts have been made so far to improve them and why these often do not show the desired success.

      Country report:

Working in groups, you will prepare a comprehensive country report on one country. This report should cover the following aspects

o Classification of the country according to different indicators

o Reasons for underdevelopment and explanations (theories)

o Development cooperation to date (actors, programmes)

o Criticism of development cooperation and suggestions for future strategies.

Defining the Problem: In this section, you will describe in detail the context of production of the chosen product and analyze the consequences. Examine how the production conditions affect the quality of life of local communities and whether they have the potential to improve people's lives.

Persuasion techniques: Use creative formats such as influencer videos, a panel discussion or polls to persuade others.

Design interactive activities such as a quiz, a discussion board or short interviews. Organise a central vote on the topic at the end of the project.

Stand design: An attractive stand design is essential to increase the effectiveness of your project and to attract the interest of your fellow pupils. At the same time, promote your project on social media platforms such as the school's Insta account. After the project, it is important to write and publish articles to raise awareness of the issues we have covered.

We look forward to your ideas and your active participation in this exciting project!
